We all have the ability to concentrate – sometimes. Think of the times when 你 were “lost” in something 你 enjoy: a sport, 播放音乐, 好游戏, 一个电影.

  • Your mind wanders from one thing to another.
  • Outside distractions take 你 away before 你 know it.
  • 的 material is boring, difficult, and/or not interesting to 你.

You can prepare 你rself to succeed in 你r studies by developing and appreciating the following habits:

  • 为自己负责.
    • Recognize that in order to succeed 你 need to make decisions about 你r priorities, 你的时间, 还有你的资源.
  • Center 你rself around 你r values and principles
    • Don’t let friends and acquaintances dictate what 你 consider important.
    • Follow up on the priorities 你 have set for 你rself, 也不要让别人, 或者其他兴趣, 分散你对目标的注意力.
  • Discover 你r key productivity periods and places.
    • Find spaces where 你 can be the most focused and productive. Prioritize these for 你r most difficult study challenges.
  • First understand others, then attempt to be understood.
    • When 你 have an issue with an instructor (a questionable grade, an assignment deadline, etc.
    • Now ask 你rself how 你 can best make 你r argument given his/her situation.
    • For example, if 你 don’t understand the course material, don’t just re-read it. Try making flashcards and take them with 你 wherever 你 go.
    • 在开始学习之前, take a few minutes to summarize a few objectives, 收集你需要的东西, and think of a general strategy of accomplishment.
    • Write notes in the margins of 你r notebook/textbook, etc.
    • Read captions, footnotes, graphs, 图表, maps, pictures, etc.

    • Change the subject 你 study every one to two hours for variety.
    • Alternate reading with more active learning exercises
    • Ask 你rself how 你 could increase 你r activity level while studying.
    • Ask 你r teacher for alternative strategies for learning. 的 more active 你’re learning, the better.
